Season 2 of "The Fitness Show"
Building on Season 1 of T.F.S., Season 2 branches out into the local community. For example, Colin talks to people on the street to uncover common misconceptions on health care, medicine and fitness. In an effort to gain insight to health club chains, Colin also visits national health clubs and quickly discovers how resistant these companies are in discussing their personal training programs. And of course, Season 2 demonstrates safe and effective technique for key resistance exercises because as you should all know by now, if you don’t exercise correctly, you’re wasting your time and/or possibly hurting yourself!

Episode One: “The Obesity Epidemic”
Colin clearly demonstrates the harsh reality of “true” health care reform: reversing the trends of obesity. Politicians and health care providers (HCPs) should take heed, as passive care in medicine has gotten to the point where HCPs don’t even mention exercise to their patients, and politicians seem reluctant to encourage consumers to take responsibility for their health. Colin also hits the streets, talking to people about their opinions on obesity as well as paying visits to LA Fitness and 24 Hour Fitness.
Episode Two: “The Obesity Epidemic, Part II”
Colin continues his discussion on the overwhelming evidence showing the direct link between obesity and skyrocketing health care costs, as the most common diseases in America are completely preventable! You’ll see how “regular” people and medical doctors might choose to reform health care, with none addressing the most significant factor: obesity.
Episode Three: “The Childhood Obesity Epidemic”
Parents, it’s up to you! Colin shows how the trend of childhood obesity makes the swine flu look like a flash in the pan. Colin outlines basic exercise guidelines for children and how to keep them more active, such as a resistance training program that addresses the whole body while protecting the joints.
Episode Four: “Low Back Pain”
Does your doctor simply tell you to “take this medication” for your back pain? If that medication is effective exercise, then he/she is right! Colin dispels the most common myths about low back pain, including its treatment and how it begins. Learning to exercise if you have back pain can be one of the most difficult treatments to learn, but if you want to get back to life it’s essential!
Episode Five: “Older Adults”
Saying you’re too old to exercise is like saying you’re too thirsty to drink water! Colin shows the power of exercise with Millie, a 77-year old sweetheart trying to improve her balance. Other exercises specifically designed for older adults are also included, while minimizing forces on joints.
Episode Six: “Arthritis”
Colin demonstrates the clear link between arthritis and obesity and how lifestyle modification is the cornerstone for effective treatment. Robert Sandmeier, MD guests stars to compliment Colin’s powerful message: exercise is more powerful than any arthritis medication available. You’ll see orthopedic computer animations of the knee joint and why Colin recommends the exercise techniques he does.
Episode Seven: “Diabetes”
Colin shows you how to avoid diabetes as well as how to combat this disease using effective exercise and dietary habits. You’ll meet Dan, a diabetes survivor and his doctor in a dynamic interview that reveals how Dan got motivated to change his lifestyle to overcome diabetes. Think pharmaceuticals are the best treatment for type 2 diabetes? Better watch this episode!
Episode Eight: “Depression”
Certainly not a depressing episode, Colin discusses how research has shown that exercise is more effective than anti-depressant medication and psychotherapy combined! Tana Grady-Weliky, MD from Oregon Health and Science University is interviewed, taking Colin’s tough questions related to the lack of exercise taught in U.S. medical schools. As usual, exercises that emphasize efficiency and safety are demonstrated.
Episode Nine: “Heart Disease”
You’ll meet Donnelen, a heart attack survivor who had to “beg” her physician for a prescription to cardiac rehabilitation, and used exercise to completely stop needing her heart medication! You’ll see the difference between a healthy heart vessel and one that’s clogged with heart disease, and areas in the U.S. that are most prone to heart attacks. Colin also demonstrates effective exercise for people who’ve had a cardiac event and what to watch for to ensure safety.
Episode Ten: “Multiple Sclerosis”
Colin talks to Ellen, a fabulous woman with MS and how she copes with one of the most frightening diseases known to humans. You’ll see how this disease can affect a person’s daily life, from walking to completing daily chores. With Colin’s assistance, Ellen demonstrates key exercises to improve dynamic balance, posture and overall strength.
Episode Eleven: “Health Care Reform”
To truly reform health care, politicians and health insurance companies must learn to work together to help people lead healthier lifestyles. In this controversial episode, Colin fields a health care panel of an insurance company spokesman, 2 doctors and a patient. He also interviews a state representative, putting him on the spot about cutting P.E. in schools.
Episode Twelve: “Anabolic Steroids”
As a former champion natural bodybuilder, Colin knows all too well the so-called controversy surrounding steroid use. Colin interviews Frank, loving father of a 17-year old son who took his own life because of steroid use. Colin also discusses his own opinion on professional athletes who use anabolic steroids, providing strong insights from both sides. Warning: if you’re using steroids, prepare to hear the truth!
